Rearden Commerce is seeking a talented Principal Engineer to lead a team in developing mobile applications (including Rearden’s Mobile Personal Assistant). This is a hands-on development position including architecture and design, mentoring, peer review, implementation, documentation and training.

* Lead 2-4 mobile application developers in design and development of several mobile applications across platforms
 * Responsible technically for quality, effectiveness, and overall output of mobile app development team
 * Design, code and test-case review
 * Develop new applications and maintain, improve and extend existing applications
 * Work closely with platform and server development teams on protocol and system design
 * Focus on performance, scalability, security, responsiveness, usability, reusability
 * Assess, prototype and recommend new technologies, partners, approaches, and product features
 * Mentor / train developers on development skills including design, coding, unit-test, documentation
 * Review and assist product management and product designers in creating detailed specs
 * Liason for release engineering
 * Document design and implementation
 * Serve as technical point-of-contact for device, OS and technology partners

* 3-6 years developing application software for mobile devices
 * 6-10 years commercial software development experience
 * 2+ years leading a team
 * Significant experience with connected / networked mobile applications
 * Significant experience with UI-frameworks, MVC, compression, transports, encryption
 * Demonstrated ability to lead teams in development of strong architecture and design
 * Demonstrated expertise in mobile-specific development issues
 * Ability to identify, debug and work around broken OS, platform and device features
 * Excellent debugging skills
 * Experience on two or more of these mobile development platforms: BlackBerry, J2ME, Brew, iPhone, Symbian, Windows Mobile
 * Very in depth knowledge of at least one of C/C++ or Java/J2ME
 * Experience assisting support, product management, QA
 * Optional but valued: experience with push messaging, e-commerce experience, mobile web/content adaptation, software updating, ant
