peggist.com is an online community connecting individuals and small businesses needing short-term help with local people willing and able to get the job done. Our goal is to put Americans back to work one gig at a time!

Founded by a current Googler in 2011 and currently serving the Bay area, peggsit is looking for a technical cofounder to come on board. Your main responsibility will be developing new features and maintaining the web app based on user feedback. Being able to learn and get excited about new technologies is a must. Since the application is built in Rails, the more experience with Ruby and Rails, the better. 

The app, which is currently in production, is freshly built using Rails 3 with all the latest gems and best practices. We use HAML/SASS instead of HTML/CSS along with Compass and the Blueprint framework. Tests are built with Rspec and Factory Girl. Our code lives on GitHub and we host on Heroku, so knowing Git is a must. The back-end is handled by SQL-based databases, specifically PostgreSQL in production (with Heroku). Some Javascript and jQuery is used for front-end elements, but it's not an Ajax-intensive site (yet!). Most of the design and brand elements are done, but having a good eye for design and being able to construct great user experiences is needed. We also have Amazon S3 setup for storing files in conjunction with Paperclip.
